Quality Steps You Choose
Translation quality assurance at Locstars is a defined process, not a slogan. Every translation is produced by a native speaker of the target language who works in your field. Editing and proofreading are separate steps you can order, and whichever you order goes to a translator who did not produce the draft — because the cost of a mistranslated contract clause or dosage instruction is never merely linguistic.
TEP stands for Translation, Editing, and Proofreading — each step ordered separately and performed by a different qualified translator:
✓Translation. A native speaker of the target language, specialized in your field, produces the draft.
✓Editing. A second translator compares the translation against the source line by line, correcting meaning, terminology, and style.
✓Proofreading. A third expert reads the final text for fluency, consistency, and polish.
No one checks their own work: each step you order goes to a different translator.
A brilliant literary translator can still ruin a patent. We match each project to a native speaker with proven experience in the relevant domain — legal, medical, technical, financial, marketing, or gaming — so your subject’s terminology and register are familiar ground from the first draft onward.
For ongoing clients we build glossaries and translation memories, so your product names, brand voice, and technical terms carry over from one assignment to the next.
When you order either step, the reviewing translator checks:
✓Numbers, dates, names, and units against the source
✓Completeness — nothing omitted, nothing added
✓Formatting and layout, including right-to-left rendering for Arabic
✓Compliance with your instructions and reference materials
What is the TEP process?
Translation, Editing, and Proofreading — three sequential stages, each performed by a different qualified translator. You order the stages your project needs.
Why a different translator for each step?
Because independent review catches what self-review misses. The editor and proofreader have no stake in the draft, so when you order editing or proofreading, another translator works on meaning, terminology, and fluency.
How do you keep terminology consistent across projects?
With client-specific glossaries and translation memories that the assigned translator works from, updated as the account develops.
What happens if I find an issue after delivery?
Tell us. We revise the deliverable within the agreed scope — send us the specific passages and we go back over them with the translator who did the work.
